I don’t know about you guys, but with summer just around the corner and heat rising, it gets hard to to sleep at night for the first couple days it’s hot as I adjust to the new temperatures. I toss and I turn and feel all sticky and stifled, even with the window open and a fan on and only a sheet on the bed. Does that ever happen to you guys? No? Just me? Am I weird? Regardless, it only lasts a couple nights and them I’m all acclimated. (I know, cool story, Erica).
So when we had one of our first hot evenings of the season, I was inspired to make a little dream catcher to scoop up all of those half-asleep, fever pitch dreams and hopefully make my nights a little calmer and relaxing 😉 Plus this is a great craft to get rid of your ribbon stash!
Dream Catcher Materials
- Embroidery Hoop
- Doily
- Ribbons of varying colors and styles
- Fabric Flowers
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 1
Cut a bunch of different lengths of various ribbons and lace. Hot glue the ribbons to the inner ring of the embroidery hoop. Start with thicker ribbons on the bottom and then layer thinner ones (and sparkly ones!) over the top.
Step 2
Stretch a doily over the inner ring of the embroidery hoop, and then place the outer ring over the top. Tighten the screw at the top. You can disguise the metal screw by tying a length of ribbon around it!
Step 3
For a little extra embellishment, hot glue on a couple of fabric flowers. I found a stash of little stick-on pearls and added them to to the doily to give it a little more of a dream catcher-y feel.
And that’s that! A matter of minutes to a gorgeous and unique custom feminine dream catcher 🙂
Now I just gotta rack up some Z’s and catch some of those dreams! This is a great super easy craft that you can complete in a few minutes and then give as a gift or keep for yourself! I can just picture this in a little girl’s room 🙂 Happy dreaming!
Love the project? Pin it! <3
What do you dream about?
That is so pretty! I think it would be gorgeous in a little girl’s room, and it looks so easy.
Thank you so much! I’m really happy with how it turned out 🙂
