Hey friends! I’m very excited to be working with Wayfair today to bring you a post all about how I’m using a Pop of Color in my home. I absolutely adore neutrals and think that decorating a home with them is classy and a great blank palette, which also makes them the perfect pairing for adding a pop of color! We are currently renovating and making over our home office/lounge/future nursery (and by future I mean a year or two, people, so don’t get excited just yet!) and I was looking for a way to add a fun burst of something bright to our relatively neutral and still-in-progress space.
* I was compensated with a gift card to buy an item to feature in this post. All opinions, content, and photographs are my own! See my full disclosure policy here.*
Now, if you’re a girl (or guy!) after my own heart then you DEFINITELY know that gold counts as a color. It does! Metallics are absolutely colors, especially when it comes to golds, bronzes, and coppers. Plus I love that they have the added feature of a shiny shimmery glimmer that makes them POP even more. Win, win, win, in my book.
I knew I wanted to add hits of gold throughout our new neutral office/lounge space so I started browsing Wayfair for things that could potentially fit in with my style board. Lo’ and behold they had it. They had the POUF. My pouf that I had been swooning over and pining for. My beautiful, gold, shimmery, glimmeryΒ pouf. I knew in that instant she had to be mine. It was the perfect !pop! I was looking for so before you could count to 10 I hit ‘buy.’
When she arrived at my door, I eagerly opened my package and pulled her out and it was like it was meant to be. It was basically a meet cute and I’m so glad she walked into my life.
HELLLLLOOOOOOOO gorgeous! π I’m a big fan of Moroccan-style poufs… if you haven’t figured that out already. They are super versatile and can serve as seating, a side table, a display area, and more. And actually they can hold a surprising amount of personΒ – my tall husband sat on it comfortably no problem! Plus I love that it can transition into a nursery space as a fun soft object for baby to play on/sit on as they grow older. Β I lovingly set this magnificent pouf in a corner that is pretty black/white/gray right now and BAM! Instant visual interest and added texture, color, and glimmer – all of my favorite things π
I’m trying to keep it mostly neutral in my office redesign because I want everything in this room to be able to transition into a nursery/child’s space when that time comes. My wall color, all of my furniture and all of my textiles so far are in basic hues so that I can add and switch out more colorful items and still have the bulk of the room stay the same. One thing that I know will never go out of style (at least for me!) are gold accents. A lot of my decor in there right now is pretty basic:
You remember my wood slice ring holder, my geometric fox art, and my succulent planter, right? They may be more natural in color, but I think that helps them pair all the more with my gold pouf! My little beauty has definitely brightened up this corner of the office and it’s so fun to just go sit on it and flip through a magazine.
Isn’t that intricate stitching fabulous?? We still have a LONNGGG way to go before this office makeover is finished (hopefully it will be up by the end of the month!) – lots of picture hanging, DIY and crafting, and furniture finding and refinishing before I’m ready to reveal it. You can see in this picture all that we have done (and not really because that rocking chair still needs to be reupholstered…):
This space is slowly coming together and right now my little gold pouf corner is one of my favorite spots in the house! We have french doors that look into this room from our bedroom (yes, kind of weird) and I just love looking through the glass and seeing that pop of gold brightly beaming at me π It definitely makes my day!
When looking to add pops of color (including metallics!) to your home, be sure to keep in mind your overall color scheme and design style, and find neutrals/other colors that pair well with them. Start small (little decor items, a picture frame, or a throw pillow) to see if you like it without fear of a big commitment, and then work your way up from there. Once you feel confident that it’s the color for you, start adding bigger pops of color. But be sure to sprinkle them sparingly throughout your home – you want it to look cohesive and collected and not like a color explosion!
Thanks so much to Wayfair for sponsoring this post! If you ever need fantastic, gorgeous, and affordable home decor, it’s definitely one of the first stops on my list!
It’s beautiful!!! Dying to see how you put together that office in all of it’s pretty gold accented glory!
Aw, thanks so much, Kristi! The office is definitely a work in progress and I can’t wait for it to be done! I’ve got some minted art arriving today that I can’t wait to hang up π
Gold all the way. That pouf is GORGEOUS!!!
Totally team Gold!! And thanks! Once I saw her and I knew I had to have her π
LOVE this! i bought the dark green moroccan pouf for my pop of color post! it looks so good in this room and i LOVE the gold. π
Ooh, awesome, Andi! Great minds think alike π I love how yours looks in your home, too!
That gold pouf really works in what feels like a silver-y space. I can actually see more gold coming in when you build a bench seat into that window alcove…or is that just wishful thinking here?
Thanks so much, Darla! I alway slike being a little unexpected and tossing gold in wherever I can get it π Haha, I’ve definitely considered building a window seat into that alcove – wouldn’t it be the perfect little reading spot? We will just have to see what I come up with… π
Erica, it looks great! Every room needs some metallics!
Absolutely agree, Roxanne – no room is complete without a splash of metallic! π
Love that pouf! Great job!
Thank you so much, Maria!! π
Ohhhhh girl, that pouf is TOO CUTE. I love that gold!! Shimmery goodness. π Love that rug, too!
Awww, thanks so much, Amanda! I’m definitely obsessed with my new pouf π Anything gold and glimmery just has my name on it!

Thanks so much, Briton! I definitely love to start with neutrals and then layer on from there – I can’t wait to show off the finished office!
Love all the pops of gold Erica! Excited to see how your office comes together… that pouf is the best! Hope youre having a great week, friend!
Thanks so much, Kendra! Can’t wait to get this office completely finished – and you can bet there will be a lot more gold in there! π
I love the gold addition! This Pop of Color campaign was a lot of fun! Love your sparkly choice!
Thanks so much, Lindsay! I can’t resist anything glittery, shiny, or sparkly π
That gold looks amazing in that room. I have never thought to add gold as a color, but it definitely is!
Thanks so much, Krystyn! Gold definitely counts as a color in my book! π Loved your pop of color post, too!
I used to hate gold, then I made the mistake of gold leafing a lampshade. Ever since then I have been having a gold moment! I adore the poof! Great choice.
I used to be that way too – in college I thought gold was a bit tacky, but now I absolutely adore it! Thanks so much for stopping by π
Gorgeous! I love how shimmery the pouf is. It really gives that little corner a ton of character.
Thanks so much, Sarah! It’s definitely the bright little pop that space needed. Now I just need to get the rest of the room together! hah!
