Christmas season is finally here and I’m so excited! I know a lot of people love to start celebrating in November (or even October!) but I’m a staunch supporter of not celebrating anything Christmas till after Thanksgiving. I mean, Thanksgiving deserves it’s own full attention, doesn’t it? But now that It’s December I can officially celebrate!
One of my favorite parts of Christmas is the music – isn’t it just the best? Every time I hear one on the radio it brings a wave of nostalgia and warm fuzzies from remembered Christmases past. One of my favorite Christmas hymns is O’ Holy Night – it’s just such a peaceful and beautiful song. So I decided to make some gorgeous glitter Christmas song lyric art to pretty up my front room for the holiday season as part of this months Silhouette Creator’s Challenge.
Previous challenges include: Harry Potter t-shirt, British phone booth art, Coldplay lyric tote bag, crochet hook storage box, beach finds treasure bag, pumpkin spice tea towel, and a hello fall mason jar vase, and a utensils holder.
To get started, I opened up the design (available at the Silhouette Design Store) in my studio software. I then dragged the corners and sized it to fit a pretty weathered 8 x 10 frame.
Once everything was sized to fit in my frame, I sent it to my Silhouette CAMEO and had it cut out on Stencil Material. For this project I wanted the positive image from the stencil and not the negative relief, so I kind of reverse weeded it and then applied the stencil to a piece of cardstock.
After that, it was super easy! I just sprayed over the stencil with some gold spray paint and sprinkled gold glitter over the top while the paint was still drying.
After everything was fully dry I peeled off the reverse stencil and was left with a gorgeously beautiful piece of Christmas art that I can display for years to come. I love how subtle yet shimmery it is!
It’s perfect in my little reading corner nook – an ideal Christmas hangout spot with some twinkle lights, a fuzzy sheepskin, and a mug of peppermint cocoa. Mmmmm, yes.
Oliver approves of the new art in his cozy corner, too!

I actually hate Christmas music but have a few favorites. This song is one of them. I love how this project turned out. It looks great!
I love this. It is so pretty with the glitter. And I love the idea of the lyrics as decor in your home. I looks really, really nice.
Thank you so much, Michelle! Glitter and song lyrics are always a winning combo in my book 😉
That’s so smart to add the glitter to the spray paint. I love the extra dimension it adds. Such a beautiful piece for Christmas.
Thanks so much, Kati! I definitely think the glitter adds that little extra something that it needed 🙂
I really love this Christmas craft, I love the picture of multiple Jesus’s you have in a frame, did you make that Christmas craft too?
Hi Shellie, thank you so much for your kind words! The print I have in the backgrounds is actually from one of my favorite artists, Scott Erickson. You can find the portfolio of those prints here: http://scottericksonart.com/portfolio/saints-of-lost/ and purchase prints here: https://society6.com/scotterickson/saints-of-lost if you’re interested!
