Wait, June is already over? What? How? Somehow time has flown by yet again, so that means it’s time for a Life Lately update! If you’re new to this series, Life Lately is a monthly update of what’s going on in my world, things that I’m loving, and stuff I’m excited about. If you want to get an insider look into what’s going on in my head, then feel free to read along below 🙂
Hubby and I just got back from Leavenworth, WA this past weekend. We go up there every year for an annual weekend trip with the in-laws. This year my brother-in-law and sister-in-law came along and it was a ton of fun! We went out for drinks, played games, walked around the quaint little Bavarian town in 90 degree weather, hung out by the river, went golfing, and bought (and consumed) copious amount of cheese, ice cream, and fudge. Delish. It was nice to escape for a little bit before things really ramp up for summer!
Now I’m back in town and back to the daily grind – whoop whoop… It’s kind of a bummer to be back to working and sitting on my butt in front of a computer instead of frolicking in the sunshine all day, but at least we brought home the warmth and sun from Leavenworth, sot there’s that. Here’s what’s been going on in my life lately – let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments below!
What I’m Reading: Yep, youuuuuu guessed it! I’m still reading the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. I’m now on book 7, Echo in the Bone. STILL AWESOME AND AMAZING, people. Jamie is a heartthrob and Claire is bada$$. Read it. Can’t wait for book 9 to come out so I can continue my love affair. Other than that, I haven’t had much time for reading… Busy busy 🙁
What I’m Binge-Watching: I just finished up the Season 2 of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and it was just as hilarious and smile-inducing as the first season. Bring on more Kimmy, Netflix!! I’ve also started watching Supernatural while I’m working on blog posts or software coding. I know I’m 10 seasons late, but I’ve heard a lot of great things about it, my sister loves it, and a lot of people who like my other fandoms (Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, etc.) also love Supernatural, so I thought it was high time to check it out. When hubby and I are hanging we also love watching Expedition Unknown – educational, fascinating, and the host, Josh Gates, is hilarious!
What I’m Creating: Aside from bloggy craft projects (I’ve got a sweet DIY coming up in a couple of weeks for July’s Monthly DIY Challenge!) I’m working on building a rolling pantry for a friend as part of a Zillow article I’m writing. I’ve not ever built anything that big or requiring that many power tools before, so I’m a little out of my element and I hoping I make it through with all 10 fingers intact. Wish me luck!
What I’m Needing: Strength and perseverance. Next week is going to be ridiculous. Remember how I said I’m in two mini plays at my local community theatre? Yeah, it’s dress rehearsal week and performance weekend, so that means I have to be there from Sunday-Sunday (excluding Monday) every night for about 3-4 hours. Woof. I’m going to need all of the strength (and courage!) I can get to get through this. Pray that I don’t mess anything up, you guys!
What I’m Listening to: Besides Netflix and the ice cream truck as it drives by my window? Hah. I listened to a bunch of random stuff on my drive up to Leavenworth this weekend, including my fave, Mumford and Sons, Imagine Dragons, The Rolling Stones, and some crazy Mexican mariachi music (which was the only radio station that came through clearly while driving over the mountain pass). Haha.
What I’m Wearing: It’s summa tiimmmmeee, and the livin’s easy. I love wearing light summer clothes, particularly lots of skirts and dresses! I also basically live in yoga capris and tank tops during the day. Wearing whatever I want is definitely a big perk of working from home!
What I’m Dreaming about: I’m dreaming about July 11th. Why July 11th, you ask? Because that is when I’m finally done with all of the theatre stuff and can start getting back to a normal life! Sheesh! I’m dreaming about finally starting my novel and setting up a solid business plan/schedule for my blog so I can continue to do what I love, but in a more organized fashion 🙂
What I’m Excited For: See above – I’m just ready and excited to have a more free summer, to spend some time outside with my love and my pup, and start really focusing on my dreams for the future. I’m excited for all the potential that is laid out before me. I’m also excited to start planning our Scotland trip that we hope to take next year!! 🙂
What I’m Worried about: Surviving until July 11th. Not royally screwing up both the plays I’m in. Finding time to get stuff done for the blog and for my freelance Zillow articles. Trying to make sure I’m a good wife and pet mommy in the meantime. Lots of worry and stress right now, but I just gotta make it to July 11th. That’s what I keep telling myself! July11July11July11July11July11.
What I’m Learning: I’m learning that while I may possess talent in a lot of areas, I can’t do them all and need to decide what aspects/talents/desires/skills to focus on. I’ve been spreading myself too thin lately and I need to learn when to cut back and when to go for it and focus. It’s all about balance!
What I’m Loving: THE SUNSHINE. Summer finally seems to have hit the PNW and I’m all about the warm weather and hanging out outside. I’m thinking I need to buy me a hammock and some fun outdoor games (bocce ball, anyone?) so I can lounge and play the summer away. Yes, yes, yes.
