June is finally drawing to a close and July is ready to take it’s place. I’m not sure where the time went… oh wait, yes I do. It went to moving and then trying not to die from a week-long sickness that knocked me out cold. Sheesh. June has had it’s ups and downs, and I’m looking forward to all the promises that July brings. Hello sunshine and happy days! If you want to know what’s been up in my world this past month, take a look below and be sure to tell me what’s been going on with you!
What I’m Reading:
For the past couple of weeks I have been reading the Red Rising Series, which includes Red Rising, Golden Son, and Morning Star, with another book set to release in 2018. I’ve been telling people the story is like Hunger Games meets Ender’s Game meets Game of Thrones (which I realize is a lot of games, haha) so if you like any and or all of those books then you’ll like this series! It’s really original and super interesting with some great themes about humanity that apply to today. Go read it!
What I’m Binge-Watching:
Nate and I finished Season 1 and started Season 2 of Broadchurch. Such a good crime show! We also started watching Black Mirror, another British show about interesting (and often unsettling) tales that have to do with technology. Other than that, it’s just been reruns of The Office and New Girl for when we are feeling in a lighter mood or finishing up Mad Men when we feel like hating characters for making dumb life choices in a stylish 1960s setting.
What I’m Creating:
Getting back into creation mode now that my craft room is unpacked! Working on a couple of projects for the Monthly DIY Challenge and the Silhouette Creator’s Challenge that you’ll get to see in a couple of weeks! Also been working on creating some cool gallery walls in our home now that all of the art is unpacked. Work work working!
What I’m Needing:
A mini vacay would be nice, even if it were just a weekend away. It’s been ridiculous with moving, unpacking, suffering from a bacterial throat infection for a whole week (aka the Plague) and some other health issues, PLUS trying to make sure this little blog doesn’t go under and going to a ton of extracurricular and social events, I’m just plumb tuckered out. Anyone else feel like that? Girl needs a break!
What I’m Listening To:
Not been listening to a ton, other than the car radio (which is frequently set either to the classical station or the alternative folk/indie station) which has been nice to hear some new bands and composers that I previously hadn’t heard of. Oh, and you know that HAMILTON is still in the mix every other week 😉
What I’m Dreaming About/Excited For:
Dreaming about getting this house put together! I have lots of plans for redecorating/renovating this new house and I’m just itching to get started. Like it gives me minor anxiety to have everything so unfinished so I’m just going to try to focus on one room at a time. Also excited about some potential future plans/events/opportunities that I’ll hopefully be able to tell you about later!
What I’m Worried/Stressed About:
Mostly just the minor anxiety about having a house that’s not put together and then some health stuff. I’m trying really hard to be positive and calm and always find the sunny side of life (did that song from O Brother, Where Art Thou just start playing in your head? “Keeeep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side…” No? Just me?)
What I’m Learning:
Learning our new neighborhood, how to drive places, and generally just exploring the new little area we call home. I’ve had to do a lot of driving recently, so I’ve definitely been getting familiar with the roads and how to get to the freeway! Also learning to just take things one day at a time. It’s really easy for me to get caught up in trying to plan ahead, but sometimes you just gotta take it slowly one day at a time.
What I’m Loving:
Cliche alert: my husband. He took care of me SO well when I thought I was dying of the plague for a week. He stayed home from work, brought me medicine and kept me hydrated, and made sure I ate things, even if it was just milkshakes or pudding. He seriously is so tender and thoughtful and I’m so blessed to have him in my life!
What’s been going on in your life lately?
