It’s officially been summer for a week! Has it been warm and sunny where you are? We’ve had like 2 blazingly hot 90 degree days and then the rest have been cloudy and cold. What the heck summer?? Well, regardless of whether or not it’s summery weather here, I’ve teamed up with Balsam Hill for their Entryways of Summer Housewalk and made over my front porch just in time for some sunshiney days! And let me tell you, I love how it turned out ๐

I was provided some of the products for this post by the awesome Balsam Hill – be sure to check their site out!
As you guys know, we recently moved into a new house and thusly have done absolutely nothing with our front porch. The previous owners left a little white metal scrollwork bench and that was about it.
Such a big empty space and so blah! We plan on having lots of guests by our new house this summer, so I wanted to makeover our front porch into a warm and inviting area to greet all the friends and family that will be stopping by.
You ready to see what I did?? Me, too ๐ Check out the transformation below and stick around for some awesome tips on how you too can decorate your porch for summer!
AHHHHHH. Isn’t it beautiful??? I’m loving all the bright colors and florals. This setup only took me a few minutes to put together and yet it looks a million times better and more inviting, doesn’t it? I definitely have a huge smile on my face whenever I come home ๐ Do you have a front porch you want to spruce up? Follow my 5 top tips below for putting together the porch of your dreams:
- Pick colors that compliment your house
- Provide a place to sit and unwind
- Add a bit of greenery and florals!
- ย Include a couple of unique talking pieces
- Get a doormat that functions and looks classy
Pick Colors that Compliment Your House
It’s super important to come up with a color scheme before you start looking for pieces to transform your porch with. Since my house is gray-ish blue color, I knew I wanted things to pop with bright coordinating colors, so I decided my pallete was going to be peachy pinks, golds, whites, and greens. All the perfect colors to go with blue!
Be sure to echo the colors you’ve chosen throughout your porch space – don’t clump them all together! I spread out my colors on opposite sides of the porch with my planter and the wreath on the front door. PS isn’t that concrete-style planter amazing?? So in love.
Also, I think that this peony wreath is one of my favorite things ever! The flowers are so realistic and the colors are so bright. I also love that it’s super large so it’s the main focal point on my front door!
Provide a Place to Sit and Unwind
If your house is like ours, we don’t have a ton of yard space so we need to use any space we can for hanging out outdoors! Even if you do have a huge yard, sometimes it’s still nice to sit on the porch, sip some sweet tea, and watch the world go by ๐
I spruced up the leftover bench with a couple of fun and bright pillows that fit my color scheme and added a side table for placing drinks on a hot summer day.
Add a Bit of Greenery and Florals
Greenery and flowers are key to a bright, poppy, and inviting front porch! Balsam Hill has an amazing selection of flowers and topiaries that are extremely realistic. The flowers all have an incredible soft, smooth, and realistic texture of flower petals – no one can tell they aren’t real, even if they are looking right at them! I picked out some dahlias, snapdragons, and hydrangeas ๐
Adding a topiary or two by your front door leads the eye and makes your front door a focal point. If you have space on both sides, add two for a balanced look.
If you’re like me and forget to water flowers (or overwater them till they drown) then using faux flowers is a great way to dress up your porch without having to worry about maintaining anything. These are definitely my kinds of flowers!
Include a Couple of Unique Talking Pieces
It’s always fun to add something that is a little unexpected to a front porch space. I picked out this amazingly beautiful fairy string light cloche from Balsam Hill to add a little bit of visual interest and provide a talking point for guests, along with my DIY Ikea side table hack.
This is also a really cool piece to have on at night to invite guests in or provide some beautiful ambiance if you’re sitting out on the porch late at night. I just love it so much!
Get a Doormat that Functions & Looks Classy
A good doormat is key to making sure your guests don’t track in any dirt, sand, or foliage when they stop by for a party or dinner. Balsam Hill carries a lot of lovely outdoor mats in different sizes, patterns, and colors. I chose a neutral charcoal gray diamond pattern mat so that I can keep it out year round and just change out the decor to match the season.
Now that you’ve read my top 5 tips for decorating your porch for summer, here are just a few more glamor shots of my completed entryway because I just can’t get enough of the fun colors and pretty flowers!
