Hello, friends! It’s the second Thursday of the month and that means Silhouette Creator’s challenge time! Each month a few crafty gals and I create something awesome with our Silhouette machines! Previous challenges include: Harry Potter t-shirt,  British phone booth art,  Coldplay lyric tote bag, crochet hook storage box, beach finds treasure bag, pumpkin spice tea towel, a hello fall mason jar vase, a utensils holder, glittery art, and some helpful planner clips.
This month’s theme was Spring Fever – we just had to make something that could fit into a springy category! One of my favorite things about Spring are all the plants and flowers that come into bloom. I may be a notorious plant killer, so I go for the faux route, but whether real or fake, I just love having a ton of potted plants around the house come springtime! For this challenge I decided to make a fun little cheery hello planter using a bit of vinyl and my Silhouette CAMEO.
Hello Planter Materials
Step 1
I whipped up this cute little hello banner in my Silhouette design software by using a stock banner from their design store and then adding my own letters to spell out h-e-l-l-o. I sized it to fit my pot and selected vinyl as the material in the Cut Menu.
Step 2
Insert your vinyl in your machine (I used a scrap, which is why it’s creased), and then hit ‘Send to Silhouette’ on my computer! It printed out nice and quick.
Step 3
Next I weeded my design using my hook tool and got rid of any excess vinyl.
Step 4
Using a piece of transfer tape, I moved my hello planter design from the vinyl backing over to my planter with a scraper tool! And that’s it! Easy peasy for a fun hello planter that will make your Spring all the cheerier 🙂
Bold black and white is my fave and I just love the little addition of fun it brings to my plant!
PS: A great source to get fake plants from is IKEA – super reasonably priced and tons of fun styles that really look real! Check out my brand new IKEA tour post to see some different kinds.
And that’s it! It took me mere minutes to make – I want to make a ton of other fun designs to make all of my pots and planters custom!
