Making DIY gifts for friends and family is a great way to show that you care and that you took the time to think of them. I like to make a gift for all of my girl friends and this year I decided on making adorable mini French macaron ornaments that they can hang on their Christmas trees! This is a super easy craft and the end results are just too cute!
Mini French Macaron Ornament Materials
Step 1
Make sure all your bottle caps are in good condition (not bent or sticky with beer!) I’ve been saving up bottle caps for years and this was a great way to use some of them up! In a well ventilated area – spray paint (or paint by hand) your bottle caps with a variety of colors. I chose gold, sparkly white, green, pink, purple, and blue! Let dry.
Step 2
Cut lengths of string or twine that would be enough to fit around a Christmas tree branch when looped. Take two bottle caps of the same color, glue a loop of string to the inside of one of the caps, and then glue both caps together. You’ll see that the little ridgies on the caps look just like macaron ‘feet’! π
Step 3
Add another thin line of glue all around the middle where the two caps meet. Roll or dust in glitter that corresponds to the cap/cookie color. Let dry and tap off extra glitter. Repeat with all the remaining bottle caps and glitter
Et voilΓ !Β Beautiful little french macaron ornaments that you can keep or give as gifts! They really are quite sweet and super easy to make. They’d be perfect on a mini tree in a child’s room!
I packaged my french macaron ornaments up to look like a little bakery box with one of each color for some of my friends. I can’t wait to give them out as Christmas gifts! These would also look great tied to presents as gift tags.
I stuck a little hand-crafted sticker on the side, tied each box up with a pretty ribbon and added a gift tag to each one.
Now that you’ve seen my french macaron ornament gift tutorial, be sure to head on over to everyone else’s great DIYs to get even more fantastic gift ideas! I promise, you won’t be sorry π
