This month we worked with HomeRight. They are an awesome company that sells paint sprayers and spray shelters, in addition to other DIY products. For this challenge, we got the option to use their awesome new tabletop spray shelters!  Their main spray shelters are large enough for furniture, but this new tabletop version is perfect for painting smaller decor items and objects. That’s right up my alley!

I recently purchased a little basket from the clearance section at Target (or Tarjay, for those of you who prefer to be fancy).

Dang straight Tarjay is fancy! Anyway, I purchased a little black basket for a couple bucks, because I mean, who couldn’t use more baskets? I decided that it would be the perfect place to store all of my beauty products on my bathroom counter, but didn’t like the plain black look. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and use my HomeRight tabletop spray shelter to make a pretty dip-dyed makeup organizer!

The tabletop shelter is pretty darn awesome and perfect for a crafter like me. It comes in a handy dandy carrying compact zip up carrying case.

Once you take the shelter out of the bag it pops open with ease, no assembly required. There are even handy-dandy instructions for how to collapse your shelter and get it back in the bag!

I popped the shelter out of the bag with a flourish and quickly put my basket inside. This shelter is kind of awesome and I could totally see it as being multi-purpose, you know, as a lightbox for photography, or even a play tent for your cat/puppy/human child 😉

I love that it has a roof as it started sprinkling while I was doing this project and everything stayed nice and dry inside! There are even little loops so you can stake it to the ground in case it’s windy.

I used some white Krylon spray paint + primer in one and did a couple of quick coats. My hubby is happy that I am no longer spray painting our backyard grass in funny colors!

To get the dip-dyed makeup organizer look, I used Frog Tape and made a line about a third of the way down on my basket sides and sprayed with Rust-Oleum metallic gold spray paint (you guys should know by now that it’s my FAVE 😉 ). I also lined the inside with tape because this basket has holes and I didn’t want the gold paint getting into basket interior.

And that’s it! Easy peasy and the HomeRight shelter made creating and cleanup a breeze. Then all that I had to do was peel the tape off once it was dry, pop up in my beauty products and witness the beautiful makeup organizer that I had created 🙂

It’s a great place for me to keep all of my most-used beauty products close at hand. Dry shampoo (life saver), hairspray, foundation primer, mascara, lipgloss, bobby pins and hair ties. It’s so nice to have it all within easy reach on my bathroom counter!

The white and gold dip-dyed look definitely fits my style much better than the black did and I love how it makes all my colorful products pop!
