I know it’s been a little while since I’ve posted any updates about our house lately – it’s just been a whirlwind of unpacking, getting settled, and just generally enjoying the summer, busyness and all. However, now I’m back at it and designing for more of the rooms in our new house! You remember my bedroom style board that I posted a while back? Well, I’m keeping the boho trend going with our living room and I couldn’t be more excited about the boho living room style board that I’ve come up with!
This is what our living room looked like when we first moved in (those blue Ikea bags have board games in them – any other board game fans??) It’s basically a big blank box with a gas fireplace and a couple of windows.
Not too exciting or inspiring or cozy, is it? Boring builder grade. I have something a bit more cozy and my style in mind 😉 Check out my cozy boho style board board below, see where I found each awesome item, and oogle all of the comfy, delectable boho goodness.
Ta-da!

One of the big DIYs that we want to do to this space is to add a brick facade to the large wall featured in our before picture above. We wanted to do this in our last house, but never got around to it, and I just haven’t been able to get the idea of a brick wall out of my head. So we are going to do it in our new house and that big ol’ wall is just perfect for it. It’ll add a ton of texture and warmth and I’m so excited to get it done 🙂 We also want to extend the flooring in the kitchen into the living room for one continuous look (plus I don’t really like carpet anyway).
As for the furniture and decor in the space go, we are using our existing Ikea arm chairs and the side table I made over a couple years back in addition to other little home decor details here and there.
For new pieces, my husband and I wanted a fun-colored couch to add a pop of interest to the space, so I chose a dark forest emeraldy green that is echoed in the plant life and some of the water in the ocean art print I chose. I want our living room to be all about cozyness, so I was sure to include comfy textures like a chunky knit throw, poufs, macrame pillows, and more blankets. One can never have too many blankets (no matter what my husband says)! Gold accents and wood tones round off the space nicely – man, I just can’t wait to see this dream style board become a reality!

So much to love here. I especially love the cabinet with doors and shelving, a nice size and shape to ground the room, with bonus storage space. Will it be part of a tv arrangement? What about paint color, and any plans to change flooring from carpet to wood or tile? Can’t wait to see your mood board come to life in this room!
Thanks so much for your kind comment, Sharon! I’m really happy with how this plan turned out 🙂 For the console table, it’ll be where we put games and things like the cable box – it won’t be directly under the TV as our TV is over the fireplace, but it will be close by to keep things like the DVD player close! We definitely plan on changing out the carpet and continuing the hardwoods – I think that’d have much better flow. As for the paint color – I can’t decide! I think we are going to keep it white for now and see how that looks with the brick facade wall we plan on installing. I’ll definitely keep everyone posted on the blog! Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you here again soon 🙂
Lovely living room idea! I would love to style my living room into something that would express my individuality and uniqueness. Since I just transferred to my own personal space, I would like every corner of my unit to speak a lot about me and my passion in life. However, I need to get some inspiration from well-crafted ideas out there!
Thanks so much Daniel, and congrats on the new space! I hope you can find some inspiration here at Dwell Beautiful for your new digs – and please let me know if you have any design or styling questions and I’d be happy to help!
Boho Style!!! Great, you have come up with some interesting lined up creative!
Hi Arica, love your boho living room style. Those items you included in this post were so so lovely looking and mind-pleasing. Who doesn’t love to have such kind of beautiful bedroom of her own. I was much charmed with the way you delivered all the decor ideas though my intention was to explore some boho duvet covers ideas and designs with affordable price. Thanks lot for sharing such an elegant stuff.
